A delegation of the Ogidi Day Central Planning Committee was at the Wadata House national headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja yesterday on a visit to the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan
The visit, according to the Director-General, Ogidi Day Festival, Tunde Ipinmisho, was to congratulate Ologbondiyan on his well-deserved election, express Ogidi’s solidarity with him and to formally invite him to Ogidi Day Festival coming up on Saturday, June 16, 2018.
Ipinmisho noted with appreciation that Ologbondiyan had been a strong supporter of Ogidi Day in terms of physical presence at previous events and generous financial contributions.
He praised the PDP spokesman for the great skill and professionalism he has displayed in the discharge of his duties since his election in November last year.
He said Ogidi, and indeed the entire Okunland were proud of him and prayed that the Lord would grant him more successes in the years ahead.
The Ogidi Day Director-General said the committee had pencilled down Ologbondiyan as a major role player in the forthcoming festival and that the details would be communicated to him.
He said although the event had no political coloration, the team would not neglect to invite a friend of the community to the event just because he has taken up a new role in a political party.
He explained that apart from availing guests an opportunity to enjoy a world class cultural show, the occasion would be used to raise funds for the completion of the reticulation of water supply across the community, construction of a new community centre as well as for the procurement of an ambulance and and electricity generating set for the new Ogidi Cottage Hospital.
Responding, Ologbondiyan thanked the delegation for the visit which he said reminded him that he was not an orphan in office.
He promised to take up whatever role the planners may assign to him at the event as well as solicit support for the programme from his friends and associates.
He praise the Ogidi community for its consistency in holding the event over the years and urged them not to relent.
Other members of the delegation included the Chairman, Ogidi Development Union, Abuja branch, Mr. Ibrahim Allah and Directors of the Ogidi Day Secretariat including Mr. Dipo Akande (Venue and Logistics); Mr. Ezekiel Adebola (Protocol); Alhaji Shuaib Ipinmisho (Publicity) and Mr. Soji Damolekun (Finance).
Mr. Akin Adeyinka, a long standing friend of the top PDP executive and prominent member of the Ogidi Community in Abuja was also in attendance.
