The chairmanship aspirant for Dekina Local Government Area, Ibrahim Mahmood, has said his priority, if given the opportunity to serve, will be job creation and empowerment of the youths in the area.
Mahmood, who made the pledge while interacting with GYB-IBRO Youth Network & formerly announcing his entrance into the council chairmanship race at the All Progressives Congress, APC, local government secretariat in Dekina, said as an astute business man, he would employ his vast experience to harness the untapped abundant resources in the local government for its development.
He said he had empowered over 8,000 youths through his various business interests and would do at a larger level if given the opportunity to serve in the council.
He told journalists after his declaration that he was driven by his passion for the people to seek the elective office just as he expressed confidence that with God on his side and the support of the party leaders, he “stands to emerge as the party’s flag bearer.”
He said, “My major priority if elected is to empower the youths through skills acquisition, assist our women with soft loans to improve their businesses and harness the untapped abundant resources in the local government for its development. Dekina local government is rich and if we are able to harness its abundant resources, we don’t need to depend on what comes from the federation account.”
